  • Lost Vikings - by Lord Nazerous

    Introduction:

One quiet day; Eric the Swift, Baleog the Fierce and Olaf the Stout, were doing some light plundering and a bit of pillaging. As they went home to their families for the night a strange ship began to hover over their homes. Before the knew it, Eric, Baleog and Olaf had been transported onto this strange ship. Through deducton and blind luck, the three found out that they have been taken captive by the evil space alien "Tomator" and are to be added to his collection of species. As you can imagine, this doesn't hold well with the three vikings and they set off to find their way home. Through wits, puzling skills, teamwork and brute force, you must help the lost vikings find their way home. The Lost Vikings in not rated, but deserves a 'K-A' (or 'E') rating for 'Everyone'. There is comical mischief and objects are destroyed in this game. Lost Vikings is a 1 or 2-player Action/Puzzler game.

    Graphics [7/10]:

The Lost Vikings is not about superb graphics or magnificent backgrounds. It always has been and always will be about gameplay. The three characters are comically portrayed as misfit vikings. Eric the swift is a skinny runner. Olaf the Stout is a shield weilding chubby viking. And Baleog the Fierce is a muscle head with a quick temper. The background look nice, but rarely add much to the expeiriance (I don't believe even if this game did have great graphics, it would make much of a differance.) With the exception of the "Wacky World's" candy backgrounds (which look excellent) the background only adds a little to the entire expireance.

    Music and Sound [8/10]:

The music track for this game is pretty cool. The tunes that blare out of your speakers almost make you want to stop playing and move along with the beat. The only downside to the music is that it can get dull or annoying when and if you keep returning to a particular level. (Which happens a lot in this game.) The sound effects are what you would come to expect from an action game; Arrows shooting through the air. A bitty yell when one of the characters is hit, and various blips and explosions that add to the game.

    GamePlay [10/10]:

The game works like this: At the begining of each level, you start with Eric, Olaf and Baleog. Eric can jump and poun walls with his head. Olaf can block monsters and projectiles with his shield and glide when his shield is in the upright position. Baleog can attack using his sword or bow and can also activate switches using his arrows. Using each of the vikings' unique abilities, you need to get each one of the vikings safely to the end of the course by solving the various puzzles and overcoming the obsticles. With over 35 tough levels and several worlds to explore, this game is easy to get addicted to and really love. And as you pregress in the game, the vikings' hilarious attitudes make themselves known through great opening dialog.

    Challenge and Replay [10/10]:

Incredibly difficult would be the best way to describe this game. The puzzles and monsters are sometimes seemingly immpossible to beat. But you alway find a way, and advance to the next level. The replay value is great too. I've polayed this game through several times before.. and I couldn't remember how to get past the stages. And with the 2-player option, it makes the replay value even more insane fun!

    Conclusion/Overall [8.7/10]:

The Lost Vikings is an extreme game. It's extremly fun, extremely funny and extremly hard. The graphic won't dazzle you, but they are nicely done. Nor will the sound effects stun you, but the music may. Game Play and difficulty is where this game has it. I can't believe how fun and addicting this game is. I suggest this game to anyone who enjoys action games, puzzle games or just wants a new hybrid of a game.
